Anybody know anything about fishing in Iceland? We will be traveling by RV and I'd like to try to catch some fish. If anyone knows anything or has been, any advice would be great!

Didn't fish when I went. But there's plenty of Sea water. Also, from what I read you could do some damage with a Fly rod on small rivers / creeks.

From what I have heard on some fly fishing podcasts about Iceland (assuming we are talking about the country), I believe most if not all of the rivers and streams are privately owned, so you will likely have to deal with outfitters versus doing it yourself. They have excellent trout and salmon fishing, it is just supposed to be extremely expensive.

Oh, while you're there, you have to eat something called "hakarl" - it's fermented Greenland shark meat, and is considered a delicacy there. In fact, would you mind bringing some home for the rest of us?

Thanks guys!
The people I'm going with are not fisherman (I know, how could I befriend such people), so I'm going to need to fish in streams/rivers that we can pull the RV over by when we camp out at night. I don't see this going well. Hopefully I can stumble on some fish at some point. I think I'll have to talk to some locals. I'll definitely get some pictures up

http://gofishing.is/Was just reading this website - quite interesting, particularly with respect to bringing your own fishing tackle.

Should take a vacation here next time and volunteer for crew or harpooner job.
