Headed to Galveston in late July. What is the best bet to get the kiddos on Spanish mackerel and bonito? I figure that's some of the best water clarity wise that time of the year pending weather. Are those type fish closer inshore/ship channel? Any info in appreciated.

Not sure about bonito, but if the surf is green and baitfish are present you can get mackerel at the beach front. They'll hit just about anything. Throw a silver or gold medium sized spoon on light setup and hold on.

Im headed out there in July too. I will probably night fish the piers and jetties. And maybe have the kids and wife meet me at like 8am or so to see if we can get them a few fish.
