I've been chuckling since reading that post about taking a date there.

Have not been to one of those human feed troughs in quite a few years.

How about you?

I prefer Furr's Fresh. The people watching is almost as funny as Walmart.

My mom loved going there. She called it her dinner theater.

I've only been a couple of times in my life that I can remember. Went about six months ago and had fried chicken which was really good. Had a sirloin steak that was actually cooked to medium rare or less and it was really good. The rolls are incredible. And how do you screw up potatoes. I thought it was pretty good.

I skipped on buffets for many years, however, now that I work at a university, I've been to a few. One of my best friends is a trainer and power lifter, and he takes eating large amounts of food as a challenge. We went to Furr's once...smelled like urine and an old folks home. He wanted to stay. I've been to Golden Corral...20 minutes later I had to find a bathroom. Asian Buffet off 30 is OK. I can eat the drumsticks and be OK...

I personally prefer mom and pop places to chains...and I prefer chain restaurants to buffets. Only buffet that is really good, is Jin's Korean BBQ. There, if you don't eat what you put on your plate, you will pay extra. Stuff looks fresh and tastes good. You'll pay $15 + tip for lunch, $20 + tip for dinner...and you're cooking the meat yourself.

I have not been in one in years, like 20+ years during my college days. I thought they were bad then, so I bet I really would hate them now. My son ate at one after a track meet earlier this year, and said it was not too good. He said some of the kids were hogging out and loving it. I suppose their parents must feed them corn dogs and chicken nuggets all the time.
