I usually use Penn spinning reels for the seldom times I go out to the coast, but you can't go wrong with Shimano, especially the do-it-all Curado. Just don't throw the Chronarch MGL or any magnesium reel in salt.

I've never had a bad experience with shimano or daiwa. Plenty like the lews but I have no experience with them. The daiwa tatula ct type r is a really good bang for the buck.
