Does anyone know any of the small lakes around Lubbock that have fish in them if so what kind, my daughter recently moved there and wanted to catch some fish And wasn't sure where to go ,most of her fishing is done on the bank.
Thanks for your help

There is a small city lake at Buddy Holly park that has Bass, perch and catfish in it. It's on the north side of town. East of town is Buffalo Springs, and if you wanna drive about an hour SE on Hwy 84 there is Alan Henry about 14 miles east of Post, if you get to Justiceburg you went to far.

I lived there when I was in college for 4 years. Buffalo Springs is the closest and made a very good come back in recent years. It has good bank access if she doesn't have a boat available. You can catch a bunch of 2-3lb fish doing just about anything you want there. I would stay east of the bridge though its where all the deeper water is, but you can catch fish on either side.

Ransom Canyon is just past buffalo, I have heard you can fish from the bank there. But I've never been since they don't allow boat access.

Also as stated above, you can leave your house and be on the water in an hour. Catching numbers of spotted bass is always fun, its tough to catch any good LMB outside of the spawn. Bank Access is pretty limited there from what I understand. Although, they do have a large dock to fish from and multiple camping sights you can walk to and fish from.

There are also numerous ponds and playa lakes, but I have never tried to fish them. I have heard of people catching them there though.

Hope this helps.

If the playa lake has a sign saying fishing regulations, it has fish in it. If there is no sign stating fishing regulations, no fish, or that has been my experience here in Lubbock. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Up on the north side is Hodges Park, you can fish it all the way south to 19th @ Mackenzie Park.
Mackenzie Park is a pretty ruff hole in LBB with the crime and dope traffic,so stay north and you can catch fish.
I use light tackle(not ultra light)8# test and 1/8 baits etc.
All those ponds inside the loop are pretty nasty(grey water)
