Is it the city or the tpwd that does the lake reports and stocking ? And whoever does it is there a way a Citzen can make a comment or get some votes or whatever to get the ball rolling to get the lake in question stocked again ? Alvarado Lake doesnt seem to have any blue kitty's and according to the last lake reports they don't last and haven't been restocked in a while . I find this an issue because this lake is super convienen tots in walking distance . I know it would take a while to get the baby's edible and way longer to make some monsters but point blank I want blue cats in my lake need to figure out how to accomplish this ... Thanks guys !

Tpwd does most stockings in public lakes and community ponds. Google to figure out the nearest tpwd fish hatchery to Alvarado lake, give them a call to determine what state biologist is over Alvarado. The guys at the hatchery and usually even the biologist are happy to talk to the public.

In some cases letting them know there's a community of cat fisherman on the lake that would like to see them stocked can get the ball rolling. In other cases the lake has been determined not fit for a certain species like bluecat, so it's a waste of state money to stock them. If you say according to surveys they "don't last", this could be the issue with no stocking.

You beat me to it.

A lake that size might be worthwhile to stock channel cats in. Don't know if there's an established population of those in the lake.

That's what I was looking for . I was comparing surveys over the year they stock one year and couple years later shock and net em and there low or almost non existent . I am worried that the lake might not be able to sustain them . Of course I am no biologist by any means but I don't see why they couldn't sustain themselves . Especially seeing as how they've stocked them 3-4 times and the channel cats are fairly descent ..I think I'll take blues advice and give them a call and see what's going on . Thanks blue !

Alvarado is one of the most heavily stocked blue cat lakes in dfw per acre. There are tons of blue cat and tons of channels, the problem is they are very dispersed throughout the year other than the winter time

Yeah, give me a shout. Lots of blues in the 8 to 12 lb range, and some of the biggest channels around. The lake can be a real gem after heavy local rains.
