Anyone have an idea what a 99 Mercury 225 EFI that runs but losing compression is worth ? The lower unit works great and is firing on all cylinders. The marine mechanic said possible reed valve issues making it run lean on 3 cylinders. The cylinder walls are ok, no scarring.

The lower unit alone is worth 3 to 4 hundred dollars Seperately. You can have the motor re-ringed or sleeves put in for a few hundred. So it's really what you are willing to pay. 5 to 7 hundred is as high as I would personally go.

If the cylinders will clean up without boring or sleeving and all else checks out - $1500.00. It goes down fast after that if it doesn't check out.
