Here's the background. About 9 months ago while running about my oil alarm went off. I open the oil tank to check the level then re-primed and the motor fired up. Haven't had the issue since. Every now and then I need to re-prime while running around fishing.

Last weekend when firing up the boat after sitting maybe a month the oil alarm would go off when I tried to crank the engine. I check the oil level, check the wiring everything seemed good. Rolled the engine again the oil alarm would cut in and out. Then the motor fired up and the oil alarm stopped. Shut down and fired up again no issue. I got to the lake a couple days later and same thing. Oil alarm started till the engine fired up then it stopped and the motor ran fine. I ran around the lake some no issues. Stopped to fish then the alarm came back and the engine wouldn't even try to fire. I had to get back with the trolling motor. Tried again this morning same thing, roll the engine, oil alarm comes on and won't try to fire.

I didn't know much about the oil system but I'm quickly learning. I probably shouldn't have run the boat but I figured it was an electrical issue. The reserve tank had pressure, the screen seems clear, the tank on the engine is full. I left the cap off the engine tank and it overflowed. There is nothing that indicated I blew the engine (no loss of power, no noises out of the ordinary) but I'm not ruling it out. When I get back I'm going to check compression first. The only other thing I can figure is an issue with the fuel pump or the oil pump. From what I can tell the oil alarm itself won't keep the engine from starting correct? Any help or advice is appreciated.

Any recommended marine centers near College Station? Bryan is always swamped I'm thinking about going to Conroe if I can't figure it out myself.

right track.. comp, fire, fuel delivery check first... your right.. oilier and/or over temp will not keep motor from start/run at all... have ya considered losin' tha oil injection and pre-mix?

might check "kill" switch lanyard first...... seen it happen more than ya would think!

I'd second disconnecting and going premix.

At a minimum if your going to keep trying to start/run it before it is fixed I would dump an appropriate amount of oil in the gas tank!

I plan on adding oil to the fuel before I try again. I know I looked at the kill switch but I should probably check to make sure it's on all the way. The other part of the story is my wife, 4 and 1 year old were in the boat with me. The little one was playing around at the console a couple of times. If the entire ordeal of being stuck on the lake with the entire family was just the kill switch I'll be relieved and mad at myself at the same time. It would make sense though it wasn't even trying to fire.

Happened to me not that long ago, it was just barely tweaked down, everything looked normal. But no fire. Took me a couple days to realize it was actually the kill switch, crammed it up a little further... and boom, fire.

2nd the kill switch circuit.

I put oil in the gas. Comression was good. Put some starter fluid to see if I was getting a spark and it fired up. Turned it off and on a few times. All I can figure is a loose wire.

I'm pretty sure the oil alarm is the pick up sensor on the oil pump itself. I could see a slow drip of oil coming from it when I disconnected it from the fuel line.
