The lake is rising fast but the fish are in the same places they were a month ago only the water is a little deeper now. White and chartreuse crappie thunder jig was the ticket today. Can someone stop the wind from blowing, it's starting to get old?

Fished Texoma yesterday evening. Caught a TON of crappie. 1 keeper. I literally marked hundreds of crappie, schools after schools of crappie.
We were pulling them in one after another and couldn't break the 10" mark. So much fun, yet soooooooo frustrating.

Nice mess of fish.
Gonna fry 'em whole?
"Fillet this fish? Hell no! I'm gonna scale him, gut him, and fry him up whole. Then, I'm gonna take him by the head & tail, 'n play him like a French harp." --Uncle Paul, sometime back in the 60s.

We had been catching fish in 3-4 fow. The fish are still in the same spots but now those same spots are 7-8 fow. Most piles I have been fishing are holding nothing but smaller fish. Maybe the larger fish are still recovering from the spawn. I wonder why the fish seem to bite best from 5:30 to 7:30 in the morning then they slow down and slow down a lot. All 28 keepers were caught before 8:30.

Are you fishing in the slips or out on a boat?

We started in the slips and that is where we caught our only keeper, but still caught 15 or so shorts. Then we got out in the boat and trolled around. Found some structure off the end of a dock in about 13'ow, and that's where we really pounded them. Not one keeper.
We still had a blast.

Makes sense. The marinas will start slowing down this time of year. You can catch all the shorts you want but keepers are harder to come by. Be sure to fish the support poles in the marinas as well.
