we just moved to Midlothian. Heard that joe pool had some really good sandbass. We made a trip out there and didn't see any big schools on the graph and the wind killed us. Anyone on here doing well out there? is it even worth going for sandies? please just PM me if you don't wanna let it be known! lol thanks guys
side note* I have fished hubbard for the past several years and, call me spoiled, but we halfway know what were doing!

Joe Pool has sand bass but not nearly the population that Ray Hubbard has. Enough fish to keep you busy for the day but you will probably have to work harder than you would at Hubbard. I rarely target sand bass at JP but will stop and have fun with them when I run across them. Points and shallow flats have been good early in the morning, then as the sun gets higher you can usually follow them to humps on the main lake. Don't expect to see giant schools that light up your sonar. More often than not you will see small pods of a dozen or so fish. But there will usually be several of those pods in one area. I fish JP most Friday's, Saturday's and Sunday's (mostly for crappie these days). Let me know when you are going and I'd be glad to meet you out there and give you some more info.

Sandies are more active in April May early at Pool. Take a lake like Hubbard and they are an all day affair

Plenty of sandies in Joe Pool. A lot of the fish are 10"-11" but still plenty of bigger ones in the lake. Points, humps, flats, ledges, road beds and deeper open water are all holding fish right now. Schooling is happening daily with some days just sparidic schooling and some days there are acres of schooling fish. A little time on the water and you'll have them figured out. If your catching a bunch of dinks just keep moving until you find the bigger ones.

Got a late start due to A confusion between my wife and I on who was going to take our son to daycare. Got out to the lake a little after 8 AM and couldn't find fish on the graph for about an hour and then found them on a hump in 25 foot of water. We tried slabbing with no luck. And then they started schooling all around us at about 10 AM. We only had 30 minutes to fish after that started because I had to go to work so we ended up with 10 keeper Sandy's. They all went back in the lake though. My buddy brought his four-year-old daughter and she got to reel in all of our fish. All in all pretty fun morning on the lake. Red eye shad Rattle traps were ticket. We are going out again Thursday morning
