I just ordered an Ardent Finesse 2000 with Ardent 6'6" rod Combo off Amazon for $38.

I'll let you know Wednesday.

I have all Shimano spinners but this reel has superb reviews and this price was cheaper
than I could find for the reel alone. Might end up shelving the rod for a spare. We'll see.

thanks at least try it
I just got an apex elite bait caster reel and just got to fish it here at home so far with 2 on it. my 1st impressions are good, casting as good as my Lews, drag what little I used was fine, retrieve good, overall just not the same feel as my Lews I am used to, I will post more as I use it. I have never used an Ardent rod.

I have been using the Apex reels for the last 3 years and love them. I'm a die hard Shimano guy but have 5 or 6 Apex

Thank you,

.

I just wanted to follow through with my report on the Ardent 2000 Spinning Reel and Ardent IM6 Finesse Rod Combo
I purchased from Amazon. I've used it on two occasions now. I have it spooled with 8 pound Nanofil line.

Most of my casting, and catching, was with an 04 size Rapala Shad Rap. This is a rather light lure
and fits the low end of casting weight for this rod. I knew it would cast heavier but I was
concerned about lighter. It casts beautifully. I could get excellent distance and accuracy with
rig even with light weight. The reel is very smooth handling and has a very smooth drag. The rod has
very good fixtures with guides and handle. Fast tip IM6 medium blank.

No complaints whatsoever on this $38 (shipped) rig. I consider it high value for that price.

Chris

I use the Denny Brauer signature rods exclusively for all my drop bait fishing. All the way from the 7'-2 to the 7'10.

I live with a 7'-10 heavy in my hand most of the time.

Rods are heavy compared to some of the more expensive ones, but suit me fine.

List for $100. Usually can find on line for $80 or less.

I don't mind the weight. Feels solid to me. Never had any problems. Have at least a dozen.
