I had the same experience last Sunday, hardly any fish in 14-19 feet, but went out to mid-lake hump (about 24 feet and deeper), and found a limit in no time. Gonna try it again Saturday, if I can get away with it on Mothers Day weekend!

Had the good fortune to fish and play with the mepps master baiter, Dennis Christian, on CC, from 930 to 4pm today, with an hr lunch break smile

It was windy so DC only can check the protected spots and we still caught well over 100+ fish at 3 out of 7 spots we fished.
It was fun! DC's home and hood is like paradise for an angler like me. Love your home, lake, wife, and hospitality, DC! Thank you so much!

All fish were on mepps #4, in 15 to 28 fow. Water temp 75f, wind NW 15 to too much!

The counts from the mepps master baiter ... 153: 135 whites, 9 short hybrids, 6 yellows, 2 hybrids, 1 cat grin

It took me awhile to recall the catching spots... Staub hump, Number 13, and Flag pole. It's only my second time fishing CC smile

Nice fish and pics. I gonna sneak down and stow away on Dennis's boat one day. I bet I learn something. He has forgotten more than many of us will ever learn.

I have fished with Todd before, and he is a class act. Thanks for a good time and for the egg rolls! Gene, he DID use your favorite BassPro tail spinner to catch a few.

Thanks, DC! You are one of the best anglers I've ever met. And even a better person. You can tell Beverly I called you a Master Baiter! Lol

Saturday May 20: I made a morning and afternoon run. In the AM I went north since I hadn't been able to get up there lately due to high winds. I found fish at the Rock Pile in 15 to 17 fow, at Enchanted Isle Ridge in 19 to 20 fow and at Game Warden Hump in 15 to 17 fow. Caught the most at Game Warden Hump and left them biting. I caught 36 total - mostly whites and a couple of legal hybrids. In the afternoon I took new wife Beverly out, and we went to Dam Ridge where boat traffic was minimal. But, we couldn't find them there. So, I worked my way east checking spots out from the dam and finally got into them at Greenhouse Ridge. We caught them there in 25 to 28 fow until Beverly got tired, and we headed in. We ended up with 46 - mostly whites, some big yellow bass and a few cats. Here is pic of Beverly with nice white bass:

Monday May 22: Went out for 4 hours on a scouting run and caught 58 - mostly whites but also a couple of crappie, 7 cats including a 32 inch blue, and a 20 inch LMB. Caught fish at Key Ranch Drop-off in 13 fow, Key Ranch North in 13 fow, Old Pond Dam in 14 fow, and Merimac Point in 13 fow. I looked but didn't find fish at the SW tip of Crappie Island Flats, the A-Frame and Sam's Hump. Of course, fish on both outings were caught on #4 silver Mepps plain Aglia.

Got out yesterday(Wednesday)and fished the Clear Creek arm, which provided protection from the north wind. Found fish at Flag Pole Point in 15 fow, 60 Acre Hump in 20 fow and #13 Hump in 14 fow. Ended up with 42: 36 whites, a hybrid and 5 keeper yellow bass. I am seeing 2 different patterns on sonar: one where fish are stacked from the bottom upward about 5 feet and the other where fish are hugging the bottom and spread out laterally as bumps next to one another.

Got out twice today - 5 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon and caught 84 fish, mostly white bass but included 7 legal hybrids to 22 inches. Lake was very choppy from boat waves, but still a good day to be on the lake. I caught fish at Merimac Point in 15 fow, Spillway Hump in 19 fow, Enchanted Isle Ridge in 20 to 22 fow and Dam Ridge in 20 fow. Noteworthy is that fish are taking #2 as readily as #4 now - maybe even better is some places.Caught 3 of the hybrids on #2.
