Switched to braid and I have had multiple times where I made a cast only to see my jig go flying in the air and the knot comes undone. I have fished since I have 5 and tied the same knot with mono and flurocarbon and never had a problem. Help.

Is the knot coming undone or breaking? it's real easy to leave slack in the loop if you tie a palomar knot, it will break quickly. Learned this the hard way...lost several high dollar frogs this way.

I've seen this with some of the softer feeling brands of braid especially if you aren't using a palomar knot. The line just snaps. I had this happen with some Suffix braid.

I don't know what the knot is called but you put the line through the eye and then twist six to seven times and put it through loop and wet it well and pull in together.

I don't know what the knot is called but you put the line through the eye and then twist six to seven times and put it through loop and wet it well and pull in together. You need a knot that requires the line to be doubled going through the eye. Palamor works fine usually. Squirt a little super glue on the knot if you want extra security. There are many other line-doubled knots too though.

Put some saliva on the line before you cinch the knot when using braid. I use palomar knot and can't even break off the line when I am hung if I wanted to.

Palomar knot works fine on braid for me. I wrap it around my hand when I'm cinching it and pull as hard as I can (braid only)
Never used super glue for any knot.
Bent hooks, broken baits, but never had a knot come undone on braid.

jig go flying in the air and the knot comes undone. If the knot is coming undone, you need to 1. make sure you are tying a palomar, 2. make sure you are tying it correctly, 3. add a overhand knot at the end so the tag end won't slip back through under any circumstances. #3 may not be necessary, but it makes me sleep better at night.

If you know how to properly tie a palomar, it's the easiest, quickest and imho strongest overall knot you can tie. I've heard some complaints on uni knots before. You can google some modified versions of uni-knots if that's what you want to stick with.
As other's have said, dab of super glue for peace of mind.

I don't know what the knot is called but you put the line through the eye and then twist six to seven times and put it through loop and wet it well and pull in together. That's a cinch knot. For braid, you can double the line with the same knot, or even better "Improve" it by finishing it off through the top loop (Berkley/Trilene Knot). That gets your tag end through the butt of the knot twice. If you do this, don't double the line. I agree that you need to lubricate well, and pull it tight around something other than your hand. You want the knot to seat well, then allow the wraps to dig in to themselves.

Use a properly tied Palomar and it will not happen again. Sounds like you're new to braid. If so, make sure you use a few yards of mono or Fluorocarbon as a backing on the reel also to prevent spool slip. Or, wind a few turns of braid and then use electrical tape to secure the braid to the spool (after tying with arbor knot first).
Braid has its advantages.....but, IMO, more disadvantages.

Your using a clinch knot. Use a polomar or uni. If you really like tying clinch you will like the uni. I use a uni and have no issues with knot breaking or pullin free.

30 is not strong enough, go to 65 pro. Huh??? That is crazy! 30 is plenty strong. The problem is his knot....NOT the lb. braid he's using.

Don't forget braid gets pretty slick which may be making your knot slowly come undone and slide off the tag end. I used to have the same problem come to find out my tag end was too short and the knot was coming undone.20 jigs later....

Palomar, but I add an overhand knot on the tag in, to insure it doesn't unravel. Braid is just like rope. I mainly use 65# Power Pro.

Also if it's a baitcaster I would recommend using 40 pound braid or heavier. The small diameter will cause it to dig into the spool and break off on a cast.

I use a what I call a double Palomar, learned it from someone here on the TFF. When you tie the Palomar and make that underhand knot, just wrap it twice. It will be a bit tough to sinch down, but it will hold like a champ.

I mostly throw a 1/4oz swim jig. 1. Is the Palomar knot a good for for going through the grass and moss. 2. Should I just go back to flurocarbon.3. If i stick with braid should i go with heavier than 30pound test?

need to learn the palomar knot. Also, make sure you use a backer or tape on the spool so the braid wont slip on the spool.

If i stick with braid should i go with heavier than 30pound test? 1. Palomar will go through just about anything. I've broken braid before but I've never broken a knot. 2. For cover such as grass and moss, braid is the champ. Make sure that you lighten up on the drag and use your thumb to control line slip. Flouro & mono both have more stretch which gives fish time to get wrapped up in the grass/moss/brush/etc. The right braid setup will haul the fish, grass, moss, brush, etc up without issues. 3. IMHO, 30 pound should do whatever you need it to do. You'll get many opinions on this.

I've seen this with some of the softer feeling brands of braid especially if you aren't using a palomar knot. The line just snaps. I had this happen with some Suffix braid. had this problem with the palomar knot many times couldnt figure out the problem, so i went to another knot

I don't know what the knot is called but you put the line through the eye and then twist six to seven times and put it through loop and wet it well and pull in together. Sounds like you're not finishing the knot....make sure you pull the line through the second loop.

Pulled bass from thick and I mean thick veg and trees and never had any problems. Best thing is I got my confidence back with the palomar knot. Thank you for all the advise and help!!!

Continuously check the knot and the first 10-15 feet of line. That's the section of line that takes most of the abuse. Retie when you see damage. Beyond that, I only retie when respooling reels and/or before a tournament.
