I hit the local pond yesterday, and had had a reasonably successful day, landing a few mid size sunfish and an 8" bass. But, I decided to try one last spot before heading home for the day.

After a few casts towards the bluegill I noticed that the dark spot I had initially dismissed as pond slime was moving around, so I took off the little wooly bugger and tied on a bigger deceiver. After a few casts I finally hooked and landed a PB 18" grumpy LMB (length/weight says ~3-3.5lb) Unfortunately, in my efforts to get him back in the water quickly, I broke my 5wt. frown

Worse, I found that my phone was dead, so there are no pictures! Arghh.

But, back to good news, I went by the TFO office this morning and had the broken section replaced for 25$. And they gave me a free hat. In and out in maybe 10 minutes. Big thumbs up to TFO customer service.

I will tell anyone that will listen....TFO is the way to go.

1. Very good rods for the money and always improving based on customer feedback.
2. Awesome folks that give so much to the fly fishing community and nonprofits.
3. Customer service is top notch.
4. Warranty is hands down the best; besides when you go to the shop, you get to pet the boxers!!

FishyB,

What is the address of the TFO shop. I have a loose grip on my 2wt.
I will be in Dallas in July and thought I would go by the shop.

Ya, TFO has done me well on many occasions. 2wt Finesse, 2wt Pro, 4wt Pro, 2 7wt BVK, and most recently a 5 wt Axiom. So much so that I have gotten rid of all my non TFO rods. I don't think I will purchase anything other than TFO in the future. All of my warranty returns were handled with speed minus the Wonderful US postal service time for shipping(my own fault, not TFO's). I never made it to the shop in person. That will have to be on my todo list before I head to Va in the next couple of months. Had I known about the free hats I might have made the trip sooner. LOL god knows that I don't need anymore hats, maybe I could get a few stickers instead. Never thought that I would hope to break another rod before I leave. LOL

TFO does have a good warranty. I've used it 3 times already. Problem for me is I don't live near a shop so I have to pay $35 plus another $7 to ship it there. I sent in my 8 weight with a broken tip. Part of the cork handle was missing as well. I thought they would have repaired it, but they didn't. I was disappointed in that.

The best experience I have had is with my Quest II rod from LL Bean. They have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. I broke my 4 weight after 2 years of hard use. I sent it back for a replacement with only a $6 charge.
