What is your best bank fishing lure ? I have lost more lures fishing from the bank than I would like to admit ( keep getting hung up )
I see these guys using crank baits on TV catching big ole fish , so I try a crank bait and after 5-8 cast's I get hung up on something and can not get my lure free ! Dang it !
Anyway just blowing off some steam because I lost 2 of my favorite lures today .

To not get hung up, the hard baits I typically use from shore are topwater and very shallow diving crankbaits/wakebaits (Academy makes a great, affordable wakebait in their H2O XPRESS line), spinnerbaits and chatter baits. However, most of the time when going for bass from shore I throw soft plastics, typically 4" and 5" Senkos and Senko knockoffs, 7" Power Worms and Baby Brush Hogs. Usually I fish them Texas rigged but sometimes weightless, depending on water depth and what kind of rate of fall I want.

Texas rigged worms for me. I just have a lot of confidence in them, plus they're hard to get hung up. I did throw an old buzz bait and catch a nice one Friday. Three casts after that fish, the wind caught it and hung it in a tree. I've had that lure since high school and caught a ton of fish on it. I was a really sad moment Friday afternoon.

From the bank, it's hard to not get a lot of lures hung up. Texas rig is my go to.

Some of my favorite baits to use that'll run shallow until I can figure out the water depth are....
Mann's Baby One Minus
Bandit Footloose
Chatterbaits (different trailers will run different depths and how fast you are reeling)
Spinnerbaits (I love these in 2-3 feet of water) learning to hold the rod tip up, will allow you to fish heavier baits in skinny water. I'll run these up and over branchs and they are deadly!
Soft plastics are cheap, don't be afraid to loose them.
Triline Big Game in 12lb. It's cheap, strong, and a good all around line. Re-tie you lure often.

Good luck and have fun!!!

Recently a fellow experienced angler told me to downscale in lures sizes while bank fishing the ponds. That piece of advice turned out to be very effective.

My two to go lures now are:
- Pond Magic spinnerbaits
- Power Worm 7" t-rigged

I agree with machnik. Small spinnerbaits and t-rigged plastics work well.

Rooster Tails, roadrunners, tube jigs, T-rigged worms with light bullet weights or split shots. Will catch whatever swims in the water in front of you

Most of the time I will use soft plastics and fish them weightless. I also like the Manns Baby 1 minus.

Mine is just a fake minnow.
They are a pack of 10 for 1.25 at Walmart.
Everything hits it, even shad.

They used to sell one back when my kids were young, don't know if they still do, called a "Killer Shad". My oldest swore by them and always caught nice bass, crappie and sandies on em, from the bank.

Swim jigs, swimbaits with the hook texposed, squarebills to crash and bash, sebile snagless lipless cranks, topwaters. You shouldn't lose much of any of that.
