These People are idiots, who let's their child sit on the edge of a pier over the ocean, with its back to a 500lb wild animal that is 4' away and obviously focused on her?

They swim up and jump on the back of boats coming into Cabo Bay. The capitans don't let you take a picture of a fish holding it over the water in the bay. Sea lions have come up and grabbed fish and the person holding it.

Thankfully the kid wasn't hurt.
Sure, let's encourage little knucklehead to get up close and personal with a HUGE predatory mammal. I can't imagine parents letting their kid get that close to a wild bear ... but then I think of the signs in places like Yellowstone park warning visitors not to feed the bears.
Maybe I'm in the minority and most people view wildlife through a Disney lens.
