Not that I expect that many of you will but, there is an issue with the latest major update called Creators Update and computers running older hardware.

Microsoft recommends that you not manually update to CU as there is an issue with the install not assigning enough resources to the computers hardware.

You will find that device manager will display conflicts icon flags: wireless adapter, ethernet adapter, vidoe, and sound, these will be "Code 12" errors meaning there was not enough resources to go around and those devices will not work.

You are advised if you have an older computer with windows 10 on it to wait until MS pushes the update to your individual computer as they are working on a solution for this issue.

This should only apply to anyone that does the update themselves rather than wait for it to happen.

cheers

I just updated three servers this weekend. It was among the updates. Servers though, apples and oranges.

Solution: Drop PC in garbage can. Purchase Mac.

I use Windows 10 at work but at this point still glad I opted to stay with Windows 7 at home. Mostly just pay online bills on the home computer anyway for general web surfing use our iPads.

FYI: Older versions of windows are more likely to be affected with the new crop of ransomware like the wannacry that hit 2 weeks ago

Kaspersky wannacry report

cheers

Fortunately, with your advice and help, I keep a pretty current mirror image of my hard drive on an external hard drive using MacReflect. If it happens I know who to call to get it back up and running quickly thumb

Started looking at computers. I run windows 7 because my computers are old and I take care of them. Finally my old Toshiba is dying, so I started considering windows 10 before I found a refurb Lenovo for $300 with windows 7. Gonna prolong the inevitable a bit longer because I keep hearing opinions like yours.
