A while back I posted a pic of a couple of stake beds( there will be more in the future ) that I made on the Forum and was wondering how much weight it would take to secure them and anchor them to the bottom of my home lake. I was considering the C Blocks but after hearing how many it would take just to sink one stake bed I decided against. It just so happens that my neighbor is in the concrete business and has supplied me with these solid 65 lb concrete spheres that should take care of the sinking issues. My home lake is a small lake of approx. 600+/- acres with a max depth of 48ft. It has a good population of LM Bass,Wht Crappie,Wht Bass & two species of Catfish channel & Blue however it has very little underwater structure. It`s more of a large bathtub with a lot of shallow water docks, humps, drop off`s & points. The upper end has a creek channel but very shallow. Question: where would you drop stake beds in a lake like this one??

Drop them on the points in 15 foot off water,, Look for deep drop off and put a few there. and any creek bend you can find. Send me the GPS information once done and i will make sure they stay fished.

I put mine on a 15ft point as well with a creek channel that runs on one side. It does really well!

If I were to drop some I'd vary the depth, from 15' all the way up to 8'....Those channel edges are prime spots...

Measure how tall your stake beds are and keep that in mind when planning what depth to sink them. A good summer dry spell and everyone's going to know where they are....even those without side scan. lol I seem to find the most fish on brush piles that are on the edge of drop offs, even if it's only a few feet.

To whom much is given, much is required.

There are a couple of extended points and drop-offs that remain in deep water(17-20fow)even when the lake went thru a dry spell a few years ago & also an island that has very tight contour lines that show 20fow on one side.what do you think?
