Wondering if anyone has done this. I am considering it to drop 5-8 more lbs and focus on muscle mass building. Interested in your experience.

I'd say there are many ways to drop weight, but is "cutting" a super fast way to drop weight, like UFC fighters do?
I'm guessing not, but please explain.

Cutting is reducing your caloric intake enough to drop approx. 1lb per week while keeping up a rigorous weight training regimen to build muscle mass. Muscle weighs more than fat, so the idea is to burn fat while building muscle, resulting in an offset in the weight loss process. The key factor is diet.

I have been ok with my diet, but not great. Therefore, I still have a layer of fat over what I know are competition winning 6-pack abs (this is a joke). I want to lose this layer so my 6 pack shows. Never had this before and it seems I am at the cusp of bringing it out- just having a tough time in these last several pounds. So I am considering cutting for about 4-5 weeks to get me the rest of the way there. Some body builder types view cutting as a descent into hell as it requires strict adherence to the diet while notching up the workouts. You have less energy due to the reduced calories and the workouts are a beat down. But this is effective and lasting.

Ok yes it is what I figured and yes have had experience with it. Both with athletes/patients I have worked with and when I was much younger. Issue is it is NOT a sustainable way to maintain your six pack abs. Body builders cut for competition simply to drop the last bit of fat % and be as lean as possible. This can be based on overall caloric intake (this can push 3,500 - 5,000 cal/day depending on the individual makeup) or increasing lean protein intake which helps build and ad muscle recovery. It is true muscle out weighs fat tissue however anytime there is weight loss it comes from 3 area - Muscle tissue, fat tissue, and water. If you want to show a 5# fluctuation in weight in short period go buy a diuretic. It will flush your system, dehydrate you, you will feel like [censored]...but you will show changes on the scale. Safest way and most sustainable way is increase lean protein and increase activity whether that be changing the lifting routine and/or adding more energy system development work i.e. cardio. Hydration is also key in this process as sufficient hydration flushes the tissues of impurities.

cut out all the carbs, only water to drink and salad with fat free dressing for dinner, zero carb protein shake for breakfast. lunch can be any well rounded meal.

It can be done in about 3 weeks.

OR you can focus on nutrition and not have to introduce chemicals into your body that you do not personally know the outcome of. Keep science and research on your side.

normally that fat free dressing is full of sugar. if you eat a super high protein diet you will just turn the high amounts of protein you are consuming to sugar via gluconeogenesis robbing the protein for muscle growth to create sugars that can be stored as fat. It is a great way to go if you need to cut weight in a week but add some healthy fats to the diet if you low carb

This all comes from Tim Ferris and Dr Rhonda Patrick's pod casts. I am on the keto diet right now.

isopure is top notch protein
