After waiting out the storm Finally got on the water....started catching them right away....put 9 in the boat...mostly cruising males on the grass edges. The "donkey rig" fluke did the trick today..... Loved every minute of it.

I think they're eating the bluegills up on the grass edges....I saw tons of them.

I got out on Lake Athens in my kayak at 7:45 AM and ended up with 7, the largest likely a little less than 4 lbs. and all were caught on a weightless Wacky rig.
I went out trying a top water lure, sort of a frog profile . . . and two fish came up and slapped at it, but no takers. They might have been bluegills.
Unless there are some late spawners, the spawn has been over on Lake Athens for quite awhile I suspect.
