Suspect charged in morning homicide.
The suspect in the early morning shooting of a female motorist has been booked into the Hunt County Detention Center. Martin Ray Malone has been charged with murder less than twelve hours after the shooting. Early Friday morning, Hunt County First Responders answered a 911 call near Lake Tawakoni State Park. An unidentified female was found in her wrecked vehicle, with a gun shot. The victim was transported to Hunt Regional Medical Center, and succumbed to the injuries. Sources tell us that Wills Point Police and Van Zandt County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Martin Malone Malone, without incident. Malone 61 years old, has a criminal history that includes convictions of possession of controlled substances in Dallas and Kaufman counties, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and felon in possession of a fire arm in Van Zandt County. Malone's last known address is in the city of Wills Point. The investigation is on going, and law enforcement in both Hunt and Van Zandt counties are looking connections to similar crimes. HCS-A4
