Yes. And I know how to use it. It's a cheap one but based on what I saw last time I was down there a year ago, I should be able to catch some bait in the surf. You know how to use it because I taught you how to do something manly for the first time in your life. You're welcome.

I caught sharks on gold spoons early in the surf and on cut mullet last time I was down at surfside. Nice! I've got gold spoons, bone saltwater spook, gulp shrimp and popping cork. Then some wire, big arse circle hooks and a throw net. #saltlife

You know how to use it because I taught you how to do something manly for the first time in your life. You're welcome. You showed me a way that works for you. And I appreciate that and that way works very well for you. That said my arms are so long... the way you showed me was not the best way for me. Took me about 5 hours to figure it out but I got my technique down PS if you are my height you do not have to hold any part of the net in your mouth LOL

I typically wake up at 0500. I plan to be up at that time every morning and in the ocean. Difference between that and a typical workday is a nap from 1100 to 1700...oh and not being in the salt.

Gulp shrimp @ San Luis Pass bridge pilings (15 mins or so from Jamaica Beach) = drum/sheep head, it wont take long.
Drum/sheep head back @ surf on Jamaica Beach = Shark, 6-8 oz cut bait or up to about 1 lb whole works well (depending on the saltwater rig your using).
Cast out past the 2nd bar and walk it back, you can avoid most of the smaller BT's by wading out as far as you can before casting into the furthest gut possible.

How deep is a gut typically?
I'm super salty, so I know, but I ask for new #saltlife bruhs

varies depending on tide, 1st - 4'/5', 2nd - 7'/10', 3rd - 10'/14' +. I always have to bounce or swim to get out past the 2nd bar.

To hell with bait, step up to the plate and get some 4" assassins paddle tail in a dark color, wade out waist deep and catch trout. Bait gets you hardheads, sting rays, black drum and sharks. Bait is for chumps using a spark plug for a weight while sitting on the jetties.

I'd tend to agree with this if he was going to be at port Isabel or the Madre area, but since he'll be at Jamaica Beach his options are somewhat more limited. Besides it's a hoot to catch a good size BT on light tackle, and if prepared right it's pretty good eating too.

I want to catch a shark. I'm gonna battle him salt life style.
Appreciate everybody's input and I'm definitely fishing into the guts with lures to bruhs.
It'll be a good break from hell week for sure.
