I have a new F250 w/6.7 diesel and its time for first oil change. I have never owned a truck near this nice before, so i am thinking i will go all out on maintenance. Looking at the manual, ford recommends MotorCraft 5w40 full-synthetic diesel oil. Looking online it appears O'reilly's is the only place that carrys it. Went to 2 oreilly's last night and they had regular diesel oil, but not the full synthetic.

Anyone know where you can get the motorcraft full synthetic diesel oil in the DFW area?? I don't have to have MC oil i guess, if i can't find it - will just go with mobile 1 synthetic or something - it seems like this shouldn't be so hard to find, there's no shortage of 6.7 diesel drivers in these parts.

Thx - ted

Walmart stocks Motorcraft oil (ford brand), I believe I have seen it there.

Shell rotella T-6 should also be fine, I believe mobile delvac and delo should also make suitable oils, just look for the API certifications listed in the manual and make sure they are on the bottle.

For the most part your not going to beat the price on the Motorcraft oil and its good oil.

yeah i have found the MC diesel oil and synthetic blend a few places. Just not motorcraft full synthetic.

Just did a search on Oreillys and the closest place that stocks the MC-FS is in Denton.

I am going to call one of the Oreilly's and see if they can order it.

Richardson O'reilly's was very helpful - they put in a special order from their hub and will have it tomorrow.

Went to a couple of the stores down in the 'hood last night and they don't give a chit. Business must be good.

I would think any of the full synthetics should be fine know several people running Rotells T-6 for over 10k mile drain interval and oil analysis says its good to go.

After owning 7 diesel trucks and having a very good friend that is a diesel mechanic for ford. I would go with Shell Rottela T. we use it in every vehicle we own. Have a 1990 ford mustang with 300000 miles and has run Shell since it was new.

I run Rotella T4 in my 14 Cummins, getting about 14-15k miles between changes. I was told, by the service writer and the parts guy at Rockwall Dodge, that it's not good for the new diesels to run a full synthetic because of the emissions system. Don't know what it would matter, but if they aren't trying to update me to a more expensive product, then I will stick with the synthetic blend.

I don't own one, but have been told that the Ram house uses Rotella T-6 for their oil changes.

I cant think of any reason the synthetic would be bad for the after treatments, it should go buy what materials are in the oils. Its been a while since I have looked it all up but something like sulfated ash content is a biggie for DPF's it is parts in the oil that will not burn out of a DPF, but the synthetics usually have a lower count than the dino oils.

Thank the government for this newest API classification. We got the first few 2017 F350's and nobody had the oil for them but the Ford dealers. After talking with my Chevron, Mobil, and Shell reps, none of them had the new oil for them formulated at that point. Somehow Ford dodged the federal mandates on the new oil for a while, and buyers were told to just run the 10w-30 Motorcraft. This was a good move for Ford, since most people bought their oil at the dealer at that point. I know of several 2017 6.7 diesels with 70/80k miles on them that have run Delo 400 15/40 with no issues. Also for what it is worth, Mobil went back to making Motorcraft oil in the recent past.

You have trucks running 16,000 miles a month?

More like 13,000/ mo. Two drivers, 12 hr shifts. It is very busy in the West Texas oilfield. They hotshot iron, swages, down hole tools and plug containers all day and night to our crews at the rigs.

Wont kill the motor, the concern with these oils is effects on the emissions equipment downstream from the engines, it costs several thousand dollars to replace.

Have you tried the dealer? They sale it over the counter. Might get some exhaust fluid while you're there too.

This is actually pretty accurate. You can thank the government for regulating it heavily because of those down stream emission equipment. I say this but I'm still old school and stick to what brands I've always like and don't just grab anything.
