Will be the name of the Reorganized under new ownership company. The complaints about gun/ammo pricing was heard.

For real. Other than an occasional good sale on a low-end pistol nothing in that store is priced competitively at all.

The first time I went into Gander
I seriously thought it was a prank.

8lb Trilene mono $14.99?!

I thought I was about to see Ashton Kutcher because yall must be punking me.

Marcus has a show called The Profit where he turns around failing businesses after buying into them with his own money. He has made something out of some real loser companies, I think he will do well with Gander as well. After all, a Billion dollars of his net worth comes from the Camping/Outdoors Industry and just about all of it has come from consumer-based businesses. The man is a Billionaire and hasn't made that kind of money by overpricing everything and not listening to what customers want.

I am not optimistic about this.
1) Obama has left the Oval Office officially ending the gun boom. Like high oil prices, it was good while it lasted.
2) The Gander leased retail locations are still "less than desirable." For retail you need location, location and location or a great online business. Gander has neither.

Gander has Overton's, so the platfrom is there.

Camping World will not have lower pricing. And I doubt any Gander stores will stay open in Academy country.

Academy is doing terrible too. So is Cabelas. They'll get completely trashed if they buy doesn't go through soon. The only one that's going to be a major player in the future is BPS. The current rumor from several employees at the Ft Worth Cabelas is that the buy hasn't had government approval yet because of monopolistic allegations. And, quite frankly, if the idiots in charge don't stop hiring useless WalMart managers the customer service is going to go in the tank as well. Too bad. Cabelas should have never went publicly traded. Everything goes to hell once shareholders get involved.

The hugeee cabelas up in PA has such knowledgeable, professional staff throughout the store. I went to the league city cabelas and I actually complained. Looking at reels for a new shark setup between $300-$500 and the employees running the fishing department totally ignored me, acted like idiots and when someone did get their attention they were clueless. When I walked up from I saw the manager and told him how "disappointed I was that cabelas would take on people like this, I was looking to make a $300-$500 reel purchase, but instead I'm walking out frustrated and empty handed because of the way those guys were acting" the manager was nice and told me how sorry he was and asked if I would like to go back to look at reels and he personally would wait on me and help me out. I thanked him and told him I just wanted to inform him of how a lot of people are feeling lately and left with a handshake.

Time will tell. I hate the possibility of a BPS monopoly just like WalMart.
