I've got 2 pairs of Oakley Turbines. One Mark Jones gave me and one I bought directly form the Oakley web site. Both of them are having the same problem. The rubber inserts on the outside of the frames are coming apart from the frame (both sides on both pairs of sunglasses). I tried the warranty claim at Oakley, including calling. They send you to what appears to be another company - http://www.luxottica.com/en/northamerica-after-sales-service. You have to fill out info, upload a copy of your receipt, then upload 6 images of the sunglasses. It's a fair amount of BS to try to make a warranty claim. Then they say they will get back to you if the warranty claim is approved. My claim showed as being accepted (not approved - received - thought I should clarify that).

I made the claim a few month ago and have heard nothing back. Anyone else had similar problems?

(Note: I was claiming the glasses I bought directly from Oakley - not the ones given to me)

The warranty link is for Oakley's parent company Luxottica and yes that's their process. Did you return the glasses to them?

I'll send you a new pair of Turbines to replace the ones I gave you.

No, because I never received approval of the warranty claim.

Luxottica is the devil. 60 minutes did a show about them several years ago. They bought out MANY major name brands and really only put money into astetics of the glasses, not the glass or visual quality. They make glasses for pennies on the dollar and then sell them for 300-400% markup.

I hate that you are having this hassle but it doesn't surprise me as long as Luxottica is behind it.

I hate to hear this as I'm an Oakley ho'.....may change in the future if this be the case.

How long ago did Luxottica buy them? I've worn Oakleys for years and only had one issue with a pair of ear socks going bad, I called and they replaced them for free and plenty quick at that.

Luxottica owns 90% of the glasses market! Unfortunately, you cant stay away from them. Hopefully you get this resolved as Crash8005 hit the nail on the head!

2007. Good luck finding a brand not under their umbrella now that they're merging with Essilor (who owns Costa). Lux left Oakley alone to operate until the last couple of years.

Oh no!! That sucks!! That's the reason why I've paid for Costas is because they were not Lux. Next pair might be Maui Jims.

The rubber inserts on my Oakley's doesn't like sunscreen. I feel that's why mine have deteriorated.

Sounds like you need to switch to Costas!

Agreed. I have been an Oakley fan for years. Was super pumped to find out they have a military pricing program.

Sadly, that warranty is only 2 years.

The $400+ prescription sunglasses I bought are out of warranty. The lens is delaminating and Oakley told me to "just buy another pair"

Costa has a lifetime warranty.

Who makes the cheap glasses I buy at academy. I throw them away when they break.

In the past Oakley customer service was found to be worse than their actual products the more popular they became the lower the durability and quality declined at an immense rate till most consumers including myself said enough is enough.
I am fond and advocate Maui Jim sunglasses cool Not only because they are the best on the market but because Maui Jim is a TFF sponsor and APT sells Maui Jim sunglasses and I love the TFF and some APTthumb thumb peep
