So I've heard from many sources that the Clouser swimming nymph is a destroyer against carp. The problem is, I can't find them anywhere in the Lewisville/Carrollton area that sells this type of fly. I'm going to take up fly tying once I can financially, but until then does anyone know of any places near that area that sells this fly?

Not local, but they can ship to you in about 3 days.

I caught my first fly rod bluegill on one of these.

$0.65 per fly and discounts for 6 or more.

I followed that link and IMHO that fly (the Clouser swimming nymph) is so ugly that I am sure I can tie a workable version but while looking at it I saw the Clouser Swimming Nymph Hot Butt below itand I am going to tie a few to see how they imitate shrimp in the salt. Learn something every day

Should you decide you want to tie them, there's a good set of pattern instructions on the Fly Anglers Online website (www.flyanglersonline.com). Best way to find it is to put "Clouser Swimming Nymph" in the search box on the upper left of their home page.

Flies came today. Here is a picture, I can take close ups if anyone wants. I will look for Hot Butt instructions as well. The small white thing propped up against a knife is a shrimp

I've got some of the hot butts too. The thing is I've ordered a bunch of different kinds of flys, but usually wind up fishing a wooly bugger or a popper.

For the prices they are charging, those look pretty damn good. That seems like a good place to fill the fly box with the basics.
