Yesterday I had the pleasure of fishing with two cousins and was really hoping for some good luck with the wind blowing 25-30mph. After the first two stops produced 3 keepers and there were boats setting on my next two spots I knew it was going to be a grind. I tried hanging on some good brush out in the wind but when your running the trolling motor on 80% and waves are crashing over the bow it's just too rough. We gave it a college try but I just could not get on any numbers. We found the dinks but the bigger fish just couldn't land on them. Ended up with 12 keepers and a pissed off guide.
This morning I had repeat customer John and his buddy Mark out and stubborn me started in the first place we started yesterday. We had 28 keepers and lost another 8-10 keepers. Second spot produced 2 keepers and the 3rd stop produced around 30 keepers. We had an easy two man limit and several really nice fish and never broke a sweat. I knew those fish were there yesterday but I just couldn't make them bite!
This wind has really been beating me down. Lavon is a beast with 20-30 mph south/east winds.
we caught everything fishing 6-12' water on sour grape/Chart, and black/Chart jigs.
