That way, it will stay pretty well in place where you put it, unless a flood current moves it, or an anchoring fool moves it. It will also help keep it in place if the ends start to break for any reason (the chain through the whole thing will hold it together). Simply attaching blocks to the end, if the end breaks, it's likely to move.

There is really no room for a chain down the center, even if you put it in first, a cable could probably be snaked threw there. I'll probably go overkill on anchoring it down, 2 on the end (chain or cable, 2.5 foot long, cinder block...) and one in the middle. It should not break. That 4 inch pvc pipe is thick.

I don't know what lake you're planning on putting it in but if it's a lake like Lewisville with a lot of currents running, I guarantee that two cinder blocks will not hold it. I'd put at least 50# on it and hope that's enough. And BTW, I like the dog better than the condo......
