I have a buddy coming down from Utah this weekend that hasn't bass fished in years. Wanting to put him on a good topwater bite and more or less just catch some fish. With the weather kind of messing with my plans I was thinking of heading east on Friday and trying one of the lakes near Mount Pleasant.
Has the bite been very good out there? Are there fish hitting topwaters? Is one lake fishing better than the others? Just looking for someone to tell me its worth the drive or not...
Thanks,

Caught 20 Saturday morning on Sandlin. All on topwater and square bills. Nothing big, but a lot of fun.

All three lakes are fishing tough , did last week anyway . Got on a decent dock pattern Saturday at Sandlin , made a check . If the sun is bright , flip docks , there was a fish on almost every dock last Saturday .

Go to Welsh and get up North in the grass and throw a small frog, skinny dipper and weightless fluke. You should have a blast. Most guys stop fishing it around March and it can be a lot of fun this time of year.

Thanks for the info guys! Sounds like even though it was tough for RtS you still got on a good pattern.
Chris - I have never been on Welsh, can you run the lake up North?
Thanks,

If the first one you go to sucks then load up and hit another one. Fish have to be biting on one of them and their close proximity makes that easier to find out.

Zach do not run north on Welsh , unless you want a totaled boat , very stumpy , and you can't see them , its a small lake 10 minute idle .

Just launch and idle north. It's not a long idle. It's a small lake with plenty of cover and grass to fish. Just idle around and start fishing.
