The Ray Hubbard Bass Club had our fourth members only tournament last Saturday May 13th at Lake Palestine. After a week of up and down weather, we were dealt with blue bird skies after a cold front. Light winds started the day but picked up in the afternoon. Another great turnout of 40 boats came out to play. Fishing was a bit off for Palestine. Some of our teams struggled a bit including a few near the top of the points. It was great to see some new faces near the top of the leader board! When all was said and done, the steam roller known as Manning and Peace made it back to back wins bringing 18 pounds even to the scales. Big bass went to Robert Hitt and John Bruner with a 6.44. Here are full results and pictures. Tim Light and Justin Truett had three for 6.82 When Vince and Mark struggle, you know the fishing was tough! They weighed four for 7.57. It didn't stop them from smiling though! James Sharp and Brian Brooks had a limit for 8.04. It appears Brian is taking a beating from the Peanut Gallery that is always in evidence at our weigh ins. Matt Jackson and Russell Olds had five for 8.54 and Matt still has the biggest grin in the Club! Dale Rettman and Kelly Millhollon had a limit for 9.62 Josh Mulkey and Damon Machost fished up in Old Folks and had four for 10.20

Darrell Rose and Teddy Pecina had five for 10.97 that included a 4.23 big fish Tommy and Danny Yates had four for a solid 11.39 Paul Villarreal and Joe Ruiz had a five bass limit for 11.84 Robert Hitt and John Bruner only weighed three fish, but it was for a salty 13.26. That included big bass of the tournament, a 6.44, and another fish over 5.5. Sixth place and the last check went to David Burton and Robert Oleson with a limit that weighed in at 13.89 That included their big bass of 5.95 that was obviously just done spawning. That's a beat up girl!

Jim Phillips and Randy Bridges had a good day finishing fifth with five for 14.10. Jimmy said they culled a few times. Finishing fourth was the Father/Son team of Paul and Daniel Spann. They had five for 14.75 Finishing third was another Father/Son team. Bubba and Elliott Davis weighed a limit for 15.75 Elliott caught their two biggest fish including a 5.77! Dang kids... Finishing second was the Husband/Wife team of Jason and Tiffany Letterman. Their five went 16.72 and included a 4.98 and another fish just under 5 Here are your winners. Defending Club AOY's Ronnie Manning and Capp Peace weighed in a limit that weighed exactly 18 pounds and included a 4.99 kicker. Their consistency over the last two years is unmatched. Congratulations guys! Thanks to the great people at Lake Palestine Resort for hosting the party. Thanks to David Simmons for doing registration and keeping the cash straight. Thanks to our TD's Robert Hitt, Paul Spann and of course their partners John Bruner and Daniel Spann for another great job. Next up is our Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday June 3 at Brockdale Park! Next tournament is Saturday June 10 at Cedar Creek going out of Log Cabin. See everyone there!

Thanks guys! We stayed close and were just trying to fish "safe". Ended up with what we thought was possibly a top 5 sack of fish. Never figured it would win. Caught fish all day and had fun. Congratulations to all the folks!!!

Okay. I know there was hell to pay when we got TIFFINY'S name spelled wrong last time. This time, David took the pressure off himself by just listing her as Tiff on the registration form and I messed it up on the official results. I also messed up Craig Mignano's last name. I'm getting corrections made. Go ahead and shoot the messenger...

If they had only read the fine print - correcting the President costs each team 50 AOY points/per infraction! I feel your pain Tom, that was a complaint I got frequently! Of course I also understand wanting your name spelled correctly. We need to automate that system and bring a computer to registration/weigh-in.

So it is said, so it shall be done!
