Ophidiophobia or ophiophobia is a particular type of specific phobia, the abnormal fear of snakes. It is sometimes called by a more general term, herpetophobia, fear of reptiles and/or amphibians. The word comes from the Greek words "ophis" which refers to snake and "phobia" meaning fear.

"..The pleasantist angling is to see the fish
Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.
Bill Shakespeare

Ok TFF snake experts. Hopefully you're right about that snake being a harmless reptile, because in a few hours I'm gonna be going thru all my lockers and grabbing any snake I find and tossing it back in the water.... TFF has never led anyone astray I'm assuming!?

That Ranger's infested.....you better use my boat and let me take that Ranger for the spring....to exterminate the snakes. I'll bring it back clean and snake free around august.

I'm sure he was just warming up and will be long gone but now you know so I'd be careful every time I get into the boat to give it a once over before just hopping in and taking off

My boat is parked outside with a cover on it and there are four cats...two of ours, two that belong to neighbors...that hang around all the time. I guess that's why we (almost) never have snakes in our yard and I have never seen a mouse or rat in the boat.

Even though I know that thing is non-venomous, the thought of it being in the boat with me at night is beyond troubling. I had one half that diameter climb up the transom a couple of years ago on Cypress Springs and I almost never got it out of the boat. Broke a rod trying to do it...

Hate snakes all together , had two close calls with rattle snakes walking the banks when I was younger. One of them was coiled up ready to go and the other was moving through the grass and I think I scared it as much as it scared me.
Does anybody remember the Bill Dance episode when a water moccasin joined him in the boat ? I seriously had anxiety over that episode .
