I'm at PK this weekend pre fishing for up coming tourny and brought the wife and kids camping. Any info or help to take them to catch some sandbass or stripers while we are here?

That's a good question. Due to work, it's been many weeks since I have been. I will be giving them he77 tomorrow and Sunday though.

I found a little mud hole and taught them how to catch crawdads. They've been pretty entertained now for a couple hours so maybe that's good enough lol. Just worried I won't be having any bacon in the morning.

if you launch from south d&d right before sun up, watch the bank on the left, if you see birds on the bank, stop and throw a lil George, white roadrunner, kastmaster, or a small trap toward the bank, saying about 40 yards away from the bank. If the birds are there, there will be sand bass. just work your way down lake, staying on the left side heading toward the dam. Should find some before you get to gaines bend.

My trip to there just got exiting. I was messing around in the boat and a snake came out to say hi. Got that taken care of, and realized I needed to re rig all my gear. Being out of state for a couple months has taken its toll. bang

Anyone fishing PK this weekend should throw topwaters at the bank early and late. Just be sure your heart is strong.

That's what I think I saw Connor doing last evening in Neely. One other guy and a dog.

Better action was at the green lights on Gaines Bend after dark. With this clear water you can see the light surrounded by fish in 20+ feet. Lots of big stripers. Unreal numbers of big sandbass.

I do not see any shad schools. Looks like I will have to go back to fishing lures.

Anything happening on the North side of the peninsula? Sounds like best action is from South D&D south.

Well we played around Saturday evening over by south D&D and no luck finding sand bass or striper but wife and daughter had a blast catching decent largemouth on top water. Thanks for the input.

Rick: Next time get a green light and go out after dark. Makes all the difference in the world at PK. No need to chase white bass when you can get them to come to you.

Nah, you can do it in the daylight too, all it takes is a six pack or more of beer. We were not seeing much, so I drank a few and took a squirt in the lake. The graph immediately looked like this afterwards. All the medium Stripers and mixed sandies one could want. I would suggest Anheuser Busch products, it provides a better foam floating on top of the water.

Yea, lots of sand bass. Got a cooler with a bunch that needs filleting right now.

I'd ditch the beer unless you want to make a BRA donation.
