What do you do on lakes like Ray Roberts, there are no boat lanes but there are clear passages that many run who know the lake, I was running one on Saturday and there was a fisherman fishing close to it, I really could not shut it down in fear of maybe hitting a stump, the fisherman was not very happy with me, sorry.

Always remember, you are responsible for your wake. Period. The ramifications run from nothing (because he can't find you) all the way to a visit by law enforcement. Remember, there are cameras everywhere. With the number of canoers and yakkers hitting area lakes, it's becoming more and more of an issue. Be careful out there.

All fine and dandy, problem it sometimes areas are only runnable on pad due to levels, clearance over some stumps etc and when you hammer down an begin there is little turning back. Don't know where Happy is speaking of but at certain water levels areas like the rail road running up to buck are kind of hammer down deals. Fish where you want but parking in boat lanes, known cuts etc is poor form.

The people who tie up to the boat lane poles on Pines are a perfect example. At certain water levels the timber comes pretty close to the poles so you can't safely go far enough around them on plane to not wake them pretty good. What is supposed to happen? Is every boat that runs the lane supposed to stop and idle around one jerk because out of 20,000 acres of water he chooses to fish in the one place he knows every boater has to go?

I think LOP and Roberts are completely different examples. LOP has clearly marked lanes and you should never park in them to fish, if you do then be prepared to take the wakes. As for Ray Roberts, there are no clear lanes, if you are not familiar with the lake you would not know a lane from any of the other random trees. I think all the "locals" to Roberts need to understand that every boat on that lake does not know where you run daily.

How about in a river or a creek? I idle past people regardless of the situation, but I have had people blow past me.

In my opinion, on the instance above, slow down if you can, if you can't it's just a sucky situation. Kinda nice the guy comes on here and apologizes.

What about the 515 West bridge on Fork. Do you idle past the people that are tied up underneath. Everyone (90%) run on pad up and down the entire length of that bridge.

if people are fishing under a bridge I idle by them, it sucks getting wakes under a bridge.

If I'm fishing a boat lane marked or unmarked I'd prefer you to run past me on pad versus shutting down... just don't get so close that I get sprayed.

I'll be the dissenting opinion. If I'm fishing in a boat road that is clearly marked, I will always troll out of the way when I see you coming, kind of akin to standing in the middle of the highway in my opinion.

Also, If I'm fishing just off a boat road, I would prefer if you DO NOT come off of plane, I would rather you stay hammered down and blow past me (if you can pass me safely that is). There is much less wake from bass boats this way. If one comes off of plane they are usually creating 2-3 times bigger wakes than if they had never slowed down.

I tend to agree if I know I'm in a lane. If I see a boat coming I try to give them enough room. BUT, a few pics of tx numbers of the boat making the wake can get someone a ticket.

On TB I fish near marked boat lanes all the time. I always wave people by so they don't stop. Funny thing about stopping, most people idle by you fast plowing water, and that wake is worse then running by.

U gotta have some expectations if your fishing near a boat run, marked or not.

I would rather someone go by me on pad as trying to shut/slow down just throws a huge wake forward. That being said I won't be a in a marked boat row trying to fish! I think those sort of people (*&^*&^($*&%(*$&%*(&($*%&(*&$%... lol

Sounds good on paper, but in reality it not going to happen. Operator would just deny it and then it's your word against there.

Go to Lake Texoma go fish the bank outside Highport, there are cruisers 1/2 mile off who bring 4 feet swells all the way to the bank, Never heard or seen anyone get a ticket for that.
