Being tied up or fishing very close to a boat lane is too dangerous for me.

With the amount of $$$$ Texas fisherman contribute to the TPWD budget, coupled with the safety issues involved, you would think TPWD would want to clearly mark boat lanes for use on all heavily wooded Texas lakes. Time for TPWD to step up and do something productive.

I think it is the river authority for that lake that is responsible for the boat Lanes.

I agree. I got one of their wakes at full speed and the entire boat went airborne. It came out of nowhere. Those things are dangerous.

most lakes you can make your own trails, it just takes time on the water

Many times I have found the pattern of the day was a boat would come by and bust up the shad near the boat lane and the bass would school and you could catch a bass or two every time a boat passed. I prefer them to go by on plane because a slower pass creates a larger wake. Bass boats don't throw off near the wake as ski boats or even pontoons. I prefer to fish the timber on the weekends where recreational boaters will be out. If the lanes are marked you should expect boats to be coming by when you fish nearby. Even if they are unmarked but have usual paths, you shouldn't be sprayed but can expect the same as it is public water.

There are some that insist on fishing in the mouth of Ray Hubbard river. If you must fish in an area that boats must run on pad then you must also accept the fact boats will run by on pad.

how do you propose they do that? drain the lake and cut paths through the timber?

They have these big boats with saw blades on them, when a lake is low is the perfect time to cut the timber to create lanes, I do not see that happening on RR.
