We're slowly losing free public access for launching our boats. The ones that are left have small parking lots.

Thanks Jack.
I still lurk every once in awhile.
Developers have bought old Robertson Park and have shutdown the boat ramps to public access. You will have to pay a $75 monthly fee (one year contract) to have access to these ramps. Sure they weren't the best ramps, but for me it was easy access. I now will have to trailer to the Rockwall ramp which has a tiny parking lot for the volume of launch traffic. Zion road launch site is the same way. The only descend public ramp that I know of is across the lake down the road from Chandlers. The only thing about this ramp is it's in a bad location due to the fact that most of the time the wind is blowing from the south. No wind break for launching.

Jones is still free and so is Terry Rd. but Terry is quite a ways from I-30. Lavon is getting just as bad.

Jones and Rockwall are too small to handle the parking on weekends and will probably be tough some days during the week when school is out. Rowlett has completely bailed on their ramps.

The parking lots at Hwy 66 (Rockwall), John Paul Jones (Garland), and Terry Park (Heath) all are well over 50 parking places

It's not just bass boats, it's all types of watercraft using the ramps and at Jones you have the bank fishermen taking parking spots. One vehicle parking in the middle of a boat slot that could hold a boat and a vehicle. Wasted space that could be used by another patron if they just knew or cared enough to pull to the end of the space.

But, the parking lots of all 3 public ramps do have ample parking. It's a shame that a public lake is getting less and less public accessible areas

Lavon is getting just as bad. Collin Park Marina jumped their rate to launch with one person from $6 up to $9 last week. $3 to launch the boat and $6 per person. Done going there.

In my opinion the only descend free ramp left is Rockwall when the lake level permits.
I seldom fish anymore maybe once or twice a month. So a membership to one of the marinas is not a option.
I normally fish by myself so I need a descend place to launch with a dock.
I get there early and try to get off the water before noon.
I just think that the free ramps that are left are going to be over crowded this summer.

Rockwall is good as long as you get off by noon. The wakeboard boats like to run that area now and push some good waves around. I feel sorry for the guys that guys that fish the bridge pilings. I know I got knocked into one pretty good by a wake. In my opinion the only descend free ramp left is Rockwall when the lake level permits.

You Ray Hubbard regulars really need to keep your eye out for monster wakes out there created by a big cabin cruiser that's been running the lake recently. The last two weekends he has been creating some MONSTER wakes that will sneak up on you real quick. I promise you if you are running 50+mph and you come across these wakes you and your boat are going to pay the price! These things are not like a normal boat wake you can see and prepare for. These are huge swells that you cant see until its too late. Be careful out there!!
