I was out on Lake Proctor this morning stacking up the crappie when I thought I snagged an accidental shad. When I picked up I had this beauty! The jig was half his size and he was mouth hooked. Crazy! Tossed the fish back after the photo. What was it? Thanks! CK

Thanks guys! I'm amazed that there are so many different species. When I was a kid we called them all perch. Thanks for the ID. Wish I was still running aquariums.

Orange Spotted. The ones I have been catching on the Comal do not have that well defined ear. I think locations play a factor on some fishes development. Just my opinion. 2cents

Plus one. Totally amazed on the different species in the sunfish family not including all the hybrids. loco
