Have a pond in my area with incredibly dense hydrilla or milfoil from one end to the other. (sorry not super experienced with aquatic grass)
Now when I say dense I mean you legitamately cannot see the bottom and you can only fish it with a topwater cause the grass has grown all the way up to the top of the water column. I've tried fishing one or two of the clear pockets in the pond (theres MAYBE 4 of them) with jigs, Tx rigs, Carolinas, wacky rigs and have had no luck other than the top water bite which has only been good (for me) from 6-9ish am. This particular pond is pretty well over fished and with the amount of cover available sometimes the fish are really hard to find even though the pond is relatively small maybe 5 acres give or take 1 or 2, many fishermen that come there always throw frogs and never have much luck. I however have been throwing a live target wounded bluegill (no shad in the pond) and have been slaying the bass in the time top water is viable. pulled up a 6# this last tuesday (no pics so it basically didnt happen)

Does anyone have any tips/experiences for fishing such wierd waters, im not experienced with fishing a grass matt so thick and expansive; would appreicate things to look for, new top water baits excluding frogs and poppers. thanks

You would have to have a small Pond Boat to do my technique. If so let me know and I will share. Fishing such mats from the bank is not the best way to go at it. You are too limited on what you can do.
