I've been learning how to skip jigs/chatterbaits lately and really want to give it a go Sunday. Problem is I live in College Station, and there aren't many lakes close by with docks. So it looks like I'm gonna have to hit up Conroe, as much as I hate it. Question is, which areas of the lake have the least pleasure boaters? I'm in a kayak and would prefer to not get swamped...

North end has the least pleasure boaters, also no docks. You could go a little farther and hit Limestone or Livingston. Both have plenty of docks.

I'm going to try Palms Marina today after work. I'm sure there are plenty of pleasure boaters in that cove but there is a big retaining wall/rip rap that looks like it will block any huge rollers off the wakeboard boats/pleasure boats.

That marina looks pretty decent...may give that a go. Is Limestone any good in y'all's experience? I've only been once and got skunked, and I've heard stories that the bass population isn't too great.

I'll update you tonight/tomorrow on if it turns out to be any good for me.

There aren't any fish in that Marina. I'll be there later, blue and white skeeter. I'll say hi.

Try putting in at Stowaway flip docks all the way back into lake Paula....Fish the rocks along the bridge as well. Boat traffic north of Stowaway will be minimal...Kayak friendly i would say smile

I'd say Stowaway also, there's not only the docks at the marina but just across from the marina there are some docks. Pretty well protected from the wind and wion't be too crowded. Great place for kayaks.

Awesome, thanks for the advice guys, I'll probably do that tomorrow. If anyone sees me out there in a red/yellow/orange yak skipping docks, feel free to stop by and say hello! Thanks again!
