I'm trying to decide between the Garmin echomap 73sv and the Garmin striker 7sv.

Is the echomap worth the 50% increase in price?

Also, if you have either feel free to give me your experiences with them, if you're happy with what you have, or if you wish you got a different one.

How are you planning to mount the transducer? I've been wanting to put my fish finder in my kayak and I'm saw a video using some putty (duct seal) to just "mold" the transducer to the bottom of the 'yak.

Looks like it's a pretty common way to mount the transducer. Going to probably move it tomorrow and use an old battery pack.

I stuck mine down with the flowable silicone you get for fixing windshield leaks. Just have to make or buy a ring to go around the transducer. Works great.
