I'm looking to start fishing deep water swimbaits. Like the optimum or basstrix. What are the best all around colors? Natural or just like wat. red or green pumpkin?

Match what the fish in the lake feed on.

I recently bought some Big Bite Cane Thumpers(5 inch). With a good weighted hook I bet you could get depth. I never have fished a swim bait but got em in and holy crud. Here at the house we have 3, acre plus ponds and that dude tears them up. I am afraid a lot of money will be spent on different swimbaits is emenient.

Shad colors are hard to beat. Another great color that seems to be underrated around here is chartreuse/blue back.

Fish something you feel confident in. Light hitch catches fish everywhere in the country, the only place the hitch is found is in Clear Lake in California. One of the best swimbaits on Clear Lake is the 8" Huddleston Deluxe in rainbow trout, there are no trout in Clear Lake.

Funny you mention that, blackhill because the last couple days I have been wearing them out on that same bait. That's why I'm interested now. I've never thrown them but now I want to start throwing bigger swimbaits during the summer to change it up from what I'm used to.

Big sky that was my thought after the spawn on these smaller bodies of water. Wanted to try something else. Water temp is up in the mid to high 70's slow roll those thumpers, wow they hammer it. Not every time, but more times than most. Ribbed body, larger hammer tails cause a lot of movement. JMO.
