Just wondered if anyone has noticed carp spawning at Fork recently. That can make for some fun shallow catfishing with a bobber.

Correct me if I'm wrong and this is only hear say but someone told me the carp spawn and lay eggs and the cats chase them around and knock the eggs out of em and eat them . There for you see the carp spawning you know for a fact there are cats in the area. At the time when I was told this the carp were indeed spawning and we were fishing in the general area of them with shad and cut up carp .this was the end result of that trip :

Man I will be hitting cats hard this weekend. Hopefully I can have a haul like that! Nice!

Yes sir the carp spawn is a great time for some shallow water cats. But here in Wright Patman the carp have about finished their spawn. The rough fish forum is a great place to keep up with the time and temps for the spawn.

It is my understanding that the cats come in to eat carp eggs when they know the carp are spawning. They make so much noise there is no doubt the catfish realize what is happening and are looking for some caviar of their own.
