Nope not at all. The most frustrating damn lake and sadly the closest one to Lubbock. Me and my fishing buddy went out this past Saturday and caught 14 damn dinks. All spotted bass. Has been a pretty quiet spring so far on AH for me.

Went out 2.5 weeks ago and caught 6 in a day of fishing. 5 of the 6 were LMB, biggest was just over 2 lbs and had not spawned, yet. Caught off a road bed and the brush around it. Having the Alan Henry Working Man's T starting on Friday, 4/21. Fish from 6:30 to 10:30, with you being IN LINE at the Crappie dock by 10:30 with your fish. 3 fish limit, so if you keep 3, one MUST BE 18" long or longer. We caught fish on soft plastics and SBs. $20 entry fee per individual and an optional $5 big bass. Hope this helps.
Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

OH, I am also selling DVDs of the lake at 25' depth for $50, too, if you want to know what the lake looked like In November 1997.

You would be better off saving your time and money and just driving down to the closest Rise 'n' Shine and getting a doughnut there, cause thats all your gonna get at Henry.

But a 13.34 was caught a few weeks ago, and someone caught two over 11 lbs right after.
You never know on that lake.
I had 1 around the 8 lb class wrap me up a couple weeks ago.
Other than that lots of 2 fish trips although i mostly fish a couple hours in the evening after work.
In fact headed that way in a few minutes. Sooner or later she will bite.

What's up with all that brown algae/funk on all the brush? I have never noticed it being as bad as it is this year.

A few things I noticed this spring around the lake: 1.There are not very many fish in the 4-7lb class. 2. There are not enough males in the lake or maybe I should say males over 2lbs 3. The carp are really hurting the bass spawn up there. I am going to take a pellet gun next year and start popping them off of beds. Seems like every female I found this year was chasing 5 carp off of her bed. 4. Where the heck did all of the quality spotted bass go that we were seeing last year? 5. The bluegill/gizzard shad population is thriving so the fish definitely have plenty to eat moving forward!
Sure would be cool to have the state drop about a million smallmouth fry/juveniles into the lake and go that route. I just don't understand why the smallies didn't make it the first time around.....

Try out Lake Champion south of Colorado City. Its about 815 acres, water levels are good and we are seeing a lot of quality bass in the 2-5 lbs range. This week there was an 8, 7.5 and a bunch of 6. 45 minutes south of Alan Henry. Plus no crowds, jet skis or wakeboard/skiing.

I would say that you just left the gate open on poor little Lake Champion and the hounds are running to the ramp as we speak. Live and learn. You must be a young guy. This message written by an OG. TAKE A PHOTO HOME NOT THE FISH. CATCH AND RELEASE Set the hook first and ask questions later.

I won last weeks working man's T with 2 fish for 3.70, 2nd place was 2 for 3.08. One 18.25" but only 2.53 lbs. Both fish I caught were males, according to their fins because they were busted up building beds. Not their tales, but the fins under their body. Tried to throw back in the same holes to see if a female was there, but no takers. There is STILL a lot of fish in LAH, but where did they go?????????? Dunno, but when they show up, it should be FUN to catch them. We had 4 or 5 guys weigh fish this time, vs. 2 the first time. Holding it again on May 19th, so come on out and see if you can figure it out. Wish I could tell you more, but haven't been to the lake but twice this year, so I will learn more, next time out, at least I HOPE I learn more. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.
