Got the new Terrova installed Thursday night and had it on the water Friday, Saturday and Sunday. After three days of fishing in everything from a completely still lake to 20+ mph winds, I am amazed at how well it worked. I fish from a 22' pontoon that gets blown around like a kite. The Terrova held me within about 1'-2' of my spot in most conditions with spot lock engaged. Even in the heaviest winds and waves it only got a maximum of about 4' away before it pulled me right back to my spot. It even worked under a bridge in about 15mph winds. Held me about three feet from one of the center pilings for over an hour and did not budge. Needless to say, I am completely satisfied so far. Best purchase I've made since side imaging.

Awesome report Miles! Does it also have the foot control? if it does, how well does it function?

It does come with the foot control and it works well. I am used to cable drive trolling motors so it takes a bit of getting used to. For most of my fishing the hand held remote is going to work great. When I start fishing deeper in the standing timber where I've got to be constantly on the motor, I'll break out the foot control. If I was still bass fishing (barf) I would stick with a cable drive unit.

I used to own and used the old Terrova for many years. It was a great trolling motor, but the old Ipilot was not up to par.
Then came along the MotorGuide Xi5; it was a game changer. I'm very happy with my Xi5 since it first came out. However I don't recall that it can stay put under the bridge peacefully.
If the new Terrova can spotlock under the bridge, then it is another game changer. We must shout out to MK.
Unfortunately, electronics related (MK & Bird; MG & Lowr) would hinder us to keep switching back and forth.
Let just hope for the spirit of free market competition, Motorguide will come out with even a better one soon.

How was the fishing? Always like to hear your Joe Pool reports.

Slabmesilly: As far as spot lock under the bridge, the bridge I was fishing was fairly tall, maybe 20' above the lake. I'm sure that has a lot to do with how well it functions. If it's a very low bridge I'm sure it will block the satalite reception more.

Jeep: The fishing was pretty good. Still catching quite a few short fish for every keeper. We fished brush piles in the 15'-20' range all weekend. Caught most of the fish suspended over top of the brush. The lake is getting seriously crowded in the afternoons on the weekends.

I'm not sure if you are asking me or someone above my post regarding JP report, but I'd give you a report anyway, and hope I'm not stepping on any toe.
I haven't fish JP this year as much as past yrs., however, the 2nd bridge and some south timbers are holding a post spawn pattern. Deeper timbers are holding lots of fish but sorting thru dinks for keepers can be either fun or annoying. Shallower timbers actually hold more keepers, but it a hit n miss. The ones that hold fish if you stumble upon them can be rewarding. This concept goes same for bps. Don't try to fish deep bps. 14' or shallower yield best. Rocks and rip raps not to overlook...
Hint: if you are fishing the bridge, don't skip the top cross members even if you think they are too shallow....

Hope it helps!

I must have the old one. Unless I'm totally in open water I do not use spot lock as it will just bash me into something.
