I just started getting into circle hooks and love them. So far the cats that I have caught have all been hooked on the corner of their mouth. I like the Gamakatsu 8/0. What all do yall use? Different desings, Brands, sizes etc

I'm a fan of the Eagle Claw 5/0 red hook as a great all around catfish hook.

8/0 TC Double Action- Fishing cut shad for winter time Blues
8/0 Gamakatsu Oct Cirlce- Fishing live bait. That hook has put more than Flatheads on the deck than you can shake a stick at.

Those are typically the two hooks that I use and have success with. 90% of my Catfishing is done with those hooks. Although I'm thinking about trying out some of the Charlie Brown's this winter for biiiig baits. Main thing is match your hook size to your bait. Sometimes I'll run 5/0 double actions in the summer time and what not.

I have to Clarify that I do not use 5/0 Big River. {They Don't Make'm} They do have 6/0 Though.
I have not used the Triple Threat's but I have used Charlie Brown's about 5 years ago. They Both are Killer Hook's but also a killer on the wallet.

Heres what I think Treble hooks are for fishing punchbait or liver circle or kahle hooks for cutbait and j hooks for worms or live bait.

Team Catfish 5/0 and 8/0 double action circles. You can't mess up on these, and they don't come unpinned once they are hooked.

There sure are some interesting opinions in the catfish section these days. Almost sounds like a lot of it is... theoretical.

What do you mean sir? Of course all hooks work. They just may work better in different uses. Depends on the baits you use, Fish you're after, What rig set up Etc. I just wanted to see what people like so I can try and compare my own Research.
