Just looking for tips on what to use at the beach. Can you catch fish in the waves? And how do you do it? I don't have any 10ft rods to go deep. So any help would be grateful. Thank you, danny

You don't need a surf rod at the beach. When are you going? It's just now starting to get a little better.
Use either live shrimp on a circle hook or cut mullet on a cirlce hook. No. 2 - No.4 for reds anything in the slot category. You'll also catch small sharks and anything that will eat a shrimp. Use a 1oz pyramid weight in calm surf and go up from there. If you've got a pretty good surf from south winds then you'll move up to spider weights and heavier weight which is also harder to cast on small gear.
What power and length is your biggest rod? (you don't need anything super big) just let us know what you do have.
If you have bass gear I'd stick with throwing lures for trout and reds. Zara spooks and gold spoons will get it down 9 times out of 10.

Rinse your reel off really well. When you think you have rinsed it enough rinse it more! Your rod too

Take any 'nozzle' off and rinse it with low volume flow from the hose. Don't dunk your gear though. Then spray a light coat of Reel Magic on the reel, wipe it down with a rag. Ad a drop or 2 of wd 40 to the reel handle bearings or bushings what ever your reel has. Rinse all your tackle that you use after that morning or afternoon's trip. You're probably going to have to replace some hooks at a later date but that's ok.
Spook junior in bone, zara spook in bone or chrome, tiny torpedo in chrome, and weedless spoons will all do the job. If you are not getting bites in the surf, hit up one of the jetties and fish tite to the structure like you are bass fishing.
