Who would've thought you'd catch 12lbs and get a check on Toledo bend? Seen the bfl cowboy results yesterday. Winner had 30 second was 23. Big difference. Made me wonder how many of the top guys you think go out sink there own brush piles before tournaments ?

I'd bet the guys who win know how to fish deeper water where most are uneducated to fish.

I doubt the winner has sunk any piles, but he's deffinetly a hammer.

After what I saw this spring, I'm shocked it didn't take 10 to get a check.

Is it possible that they actually ate all the fish in that lake. Lol

I seen guys like newberry and few others that usually do good not so good. I know there are guys who are just good fishermen but sometimes the gap is so big makes you wonder what the difference is. Im not implying any cheating. I'm just wondering if they sink brush around, I can honestly say I don't think there's any secret spots on any lakes these given days. People know who you are drive by see you and mark your spot. Graphs have even the field a bunch. If I lived closer to those lakes I would get very good on them I think. I've been to Rayburn 5 times this year and still don't have it figured out. But I am getting better. On it. Use to hate the lake. Now look forward to going there

I would bet the bigger sacks came deep and typically knowing how to manage the timing of your deep spots is the key to maximizing your results fishing them. The only way to know the timing of certain deep fish is time on the water.

To really catch them on Toledo you better know the lake. The days of stumbling on a big bag are likely over. Those groups of big fish are much fewer than in the past couple years. Yes it's a big lake and the possibility of 30lbs will always be there. But I look at 5th place to last usually. That's the indicator of how the lake is doing.

Only 4 bags over 20 lbs, one by the winner that pretty much grew up on the lake and one by the most well known guide on the lake. hmmm The Bassmaster #1 lake in the nation death sentence is happening again to a Texas lake... I know there are many other factors, but it definitely plays a roll.

Only took 16 lbs to WIN the BLT on Sunday, pretty small field but still some East Texas sticks in there.

There is more fishing pressure on all lakes than ever before. I fished Tyler Saturday and Winnsboro Sunday. Both were overrun with boats. We got to the ramp on Tyler early Saturday, in the fog, and each of the first five places I tried to fish had one boat on it and another boat (or boats) a few yards away. If we are going to "grow the sport" we really need to build some more lakes.

I agree, my partner and I won the BLT on Sunday. I fished the BFL and only had about 10lbs fishing many of the same spots but decided not to even weigh in because typically that doesn't warrant a check, boy was I wrong. This weekend did seem to fish tougher than normal, although a front just came through.

I was shocked to see some of the usual names on the BFL not weigh in as I did, or catch a small limit.

I was really surprised to see a 30lb bag but the lake is always capable. Any really exceptional day that I have had out there has been deep. 14-20 ft flat coming out of the river channel.
