Long time reader and 1st time writer. Went up to the lake on Wednesday for my second adventure in a kayak. My fishing buddy and I went across the lake in to Yegua creek and had a good time. We caught several nice Bluegill and plenty of Catfish up to 3#s while dropping a jig into the submerged trees. If you head up that way keep an eye out for snakes, they were EVERYWHERE!! The best fish of the day was a solid 4# channel cat being dragged up the bank by a big Cottonmouth. Finished off our day walking through the woods and enjoying the 20+ mph wind on our sunburned hides.

Awesome post and To the Texas Fishing Forum! Lake Somerville is a super fishery and great lake to fish. Jamie aka J-Moe fishes that area a lot! Great guy to get to know. I heard he has names for the fish in both Somerville and Yegua Creek! Looking forward to seeing more of your post. Side Note:You are right! It is that time of year. Watch out for SNAKES!

That's a long paddle in some serious wind. Kuddos to you, I haven't been on the main lake in a couple weeks due to the high winds. Nails creek can be very productive as well and is half the paddling distance. I've been just bank fishing the creeks. I've caught more 3/4 lb. bluegill this year than ever before. I even found an isolated pocket that I caught a hybrid and some white bass out of this week.

Thanks to the welcoming committee. I plan to float my way up Nails Creek before too long. I live on the coast, but the salt life is not for me. Give me a cane pole, a shady Creek, or a big pond and I'm completely content. Tight lines fellas.
