I have concerns about cutting the beam that runs lengthwise in the front of the boat.
Will have to cut out some of it to make tray fit. Concerned about weakening structure
of the boat. Any advice welcome.

I installed a recessed foot tray in my Skeeter ZX190 and had the same concerns. What I did was remove the plastic box that holds lure boxes ( or whatever ) so I could see what was underneath where I was going to cut the hole. Mine had 2 beams but were far enough apart to fit the tray between them. Not sure how yours is made but by removing that box you will be able to see any obstructions. There may also be some wiring that may be in the way. I used a jig saw to cut the hole but they wear out pretty quick.

I have looked and it has one beam running right down the center where the tray would fit.

You may need professional help with that one. A Triton dealer would be the one to call or you might ask the guys over at Classic Fiberglass in Sanger. Nice folks and know their business.

It's fine, I just cut it to the shape of the tray. I think the stupid drain hole lined up with it and I had to notch it out.

i think i would seek professional advice on that one --- sounds a little sketchy to me ---all the people that will tell you to do it uninformed will not be around when you fall through the deck --just saying !

Long ago I put one in a 2003 TR19 I had. I don't particularly remember anything too structural there but maybe the 186 is different. I know I could step in one spot a year or two later and it would make a little creak sound but it wasn't ever weak or bouncy. Recommend a sawzall, not a jigsaw to do it. Measure 48 times, cut once.

I did the same thing on my old 2003 TR186. I made 2 templates out of pegboard type material. I made 1 for the outline and 1 for the side profile. I also had to notch the middle brace for the drain. I traced the profile outline with a sharpie & cut the middle brace. When the tray was installed, the bottom of the tray sat on top of the brace and was rock solid. I was weighing around 230 at the time and it didn't flex at all. I used the Comfort troll tray. I took the tray to Home Depot to color match some paint. I bought a small can so I could paint the screws to match the tray. Here are a few photos. I have more photos if you need them.

Have a Blessed Day,
Mike

I also have a 2003 TR186. I installed a TROLL-EZE recessed tray some time ago. I did not have a template, but it worked out fine. The only problem I had was installing the tray too far back, which resulted in my getting a leg cramp from flexing it so much all day. (I am 5'9") I later moved it as far forward as possible which solved my problem. I had to patch about 4" of the carpet behind it to cover up what was left exposed.
