Myself,Will aka 1960texan,and Clayton aka The Wildman of the navidad, fished the Perdernales River at the Perdernales State Park. The fishing was fair and the scenery was great. We walked a lot and all of us got our weekly exercise. Bluegill, bass, and Longear were all caught. Worms and various lures used by Will were the baits used. Fish were holding by ledges in the deeper pockets of the river and at the end of currents in the shallow parts. We also saw some HUGE GAR ! All fish were released. The river is in GREAT shape with good current and plenty of deep pockets. After a nice day of fishing we had a SUPER lunch at the Hill Country Cup Board in beautiful downtown Johnson City. Enjoying the GREAT OUTDOORS with friends. It just don't get any better. fish

Glad to see you guys did well, I went up there on the 7th and was very surprised at how dead it was. No explanation but other than a couple of nice carp I didn't see many fish at all let alone catch them. Usually the place is packed full of eager fish, and I'm able to find some nice bass and as many sunfish as I want. Last Friday when I was there, things were oddly deserted. It's still a beautiful place to spend a day even if the fishing isn't as good as it usually is!

I did manage to eke out two small Guads. Hopefully this little guy will grow into his tail someday! roflmao fish

Very nice! I crossed the Perdernales twice today on a roadie to Austin and back. Sure wish I had taken an ultra-lite. Good job guys!

coolphotos Nice trip guys! That was one of my first road trips I made when I moved to Texas. Beautiful river. I have not fished the Perdernales in over a year but need to make it out there. Any put in and take out spots for a kayak? Again nice fish and trip! woot

Thanks Curtis the reply. There are several put in and take out spots on that river. Park road #1 in Stonewall has a couple. There are a lot of small dams in that area. You would have to get out and go around them. Also the river is very shallow in some spots. There are some super spots you can fish from a kayak. thumb

Nice post. Good job guys.

Side Note: Hardly see any reports from that river. Also not many sunfish records and no Rio records posted. Any takes on why?
