Been trying to fish Lake Ivie for cats but I'm striking out. Been fishing 2-8 ft water. Fishing wind blown banks with flooded grass and trees. Fishing little feeder creeks and sloughs. Fishing in the backs of creeks. Using shad, carp, perch, cheese bait, worms, and pumch bait. Nothing

We have been chumming every location with soured milo. I'm doing everything that people are telling me to do. I don't know. I thought I was a decent fisherman but I can't catch catfish to save me life.

I can't see that you're doing anything wrong IMO, but with this CRAZY weather we have been having it can throw them off for sure.

That could be a tough lake to fish at times.
Have you tried any drifting? There's a couple coves around mid lake that you can drift in and cover some water. There seems to always be some fish hanging out in them as well. Pm me for some more info, I'll try to help you out the best I can.

Everything I'm doing worked when I fished lake Lewisville and Lake Lavon when I was living in Dallas.
But for some reason I can't make it work on Ivie. Been trying for 5 years now and it humbles me every time.

Might try some rocky areas the next few weeks. Watch your shad in the area your fishing. If you see small threads running use them, if ya see bigger shad use them maybe even fillet the sides and use them

I live with Fear everyday but sometimes she lets me go fishin

Matching bait this time of year is often the trick or treat
We fished rock drop offs for crappie and caught more cats then crappie on 3" jigs two weekends in a row
Water was 3-6 foot, wind directly blowing to the rock banks

Ivie is tough some days and a waste of time the rest of the days. I fish it in the winter or at night. I've heard lake winters and brownwood is doing pretty good. Not sure about hoards creek but it can be good too.

Guys, that Lake is definately Beast and very Spiritual. Over the years of cruisin around on it I have learned that you have to become one with the fish before you will be granted any. A ceremonial raindance is needed, and then fish it in your PAJAMAS!!!!!! roflmao roflmao roflmao roflmao fish fish fish thumb

Did come across a very large fish kill up the Colorado.
Thousands of dead fish. Mostly Carp, gar, and shad. But quite a few crappie and catfish as well.
